French literature,
loud and proud!

Beyond Words festival of literature is back for a 6th edition to remember!

From 16 to 22 May, the Institut français goes Beyond Words, crosses borders and genres and embarks us on lively discussions, ardent readings and inspiring live events and screenings.

Audiences can expect the latest and hottest publications from both sides of the Channel and a great line-up including acclaimed authors and new voices.

This year, our programme celebrates literature in all its glory and diversity and gives central stage to feminist novelists. It also pays tribute to Proust and Molière, and marks the 60th anniversary of the Independence of Algeria with several debates and films.

Discover new stories, enjoy screen adaptations, hear your favourite authors, revisit Molière, have your book signed, take part in the discussion, share your passion for literature: join Beyond Words Festival!

With special thanks to Florence and Vincent Gombault for their support to the festival.

Kamel Daoud You drink a language, you speak a language, and one day it owns you.

Hervé Le Tellier Nostalgia is a villain. It suggests that life makes sense.

Marie Darrieussecq A book only becomes necessary in the actual writing, in its ambition, in its ability to make us aware of the world.

Deborah Levy Even the most arrogant female writer has to work overtime to build an ego that is robust enough to get her through January, never mind all the way to December.

Faïza Guène I was already under Hélène’s spell, but I fell in love with her the moment I saw her bookshelves.

Ben Okri There is no sacrifice where there is love.
